Kapha is the most stable of all the doshas. Kapha contains both earth and water elements fortifying it with lots of strength and perseverance. Kapha is concerned with structures and cohesion and those who have dominant kapha doshas are typically the healthiest and longest living.

Physical
  • Solid, sturdy build
  • Resilience when it comes to temperature changes
  • Thick, shiny hair
  • Strong teeth, nails and hair
  • Clear, thick skin
  • Larger bone structure
  • Melodious voice

Character
  • Easy going and adaptable
  • Difficult to fluster
  • Gentle and harmonious 
  • Generous
  • Patient 
  • Methodical

Kapha imbalances may manifest as
  • Torpor
  • Depression
  • Stagnation
  • Weight gain
  • Diabetes
  • Over sleeping 
  • Greed
  • Stubbornness
  • Puffiness
  • Excess mucus

Ways to balance Kapha
  • Spicy foods
  • A consistent exercise regimen 
  • Favor warm and dry climates
  • Limit oily foods
  • Favor pungent, bitter and astringent foods
  • No napping
  • Purge your home and workspace of unneeded objects
  • Adhere to a primarily plant based diet
