My dinacharya: My daily ayurvedic routines

Confession... I don't do all of this everyday.

However, this is an ideal for me to follow and I feel like a million bucks when I set aside time to complete everything. As I mentioned in my earlier post on dinacharya, I'm a big proponent of customization and strongly encourage you to incorporate only what resonates with you.
 
Morning Routine
  • Wake up
  • Go to the bathroom
  • Scrape tongue and swish mouth with water
  • Wash face with room temperature water. No need to use any products
  • Apply facial oil and practice a few minutes of facial massage
  • Apply more intense moisturizer if needed
  • Drink 1 large mug of tea and/or warm water
  • Morning Pages
  • Meditate
  • Consume breakfast unless fasting
  • Look over journal & planner to get a feel for the day
  • Dry brush my skin
  • Abyangha: self massage with oil. Sometimes I mix in a little essential oil to the carrier oil I am using (often sunflower or coconut) depending on my mood & what mood I want to cultivate.
  • Take a 10 minute walk around the neighborhood and then I'm ready to start my day!

Evening Routine
  • Meditate
  • Read
  • Brush teeth
  • Wash face and apply mask 2x a week
  • Shower
  • Facial oil and facial massage

Evening Guidelines
I have found that relying on willpower after 7pm is often a losing battle. I easily fall into YouTube holes and eat far too many brownies. I grew tired of my dearth of self-discipline so I sat down and thought about what specific aspects I wanted to change. What kind of person did I see myself as? Here are a few simple but powerful guidelines that I came up with.
  • No snacking after 8:30 pm
  • No computer, videos after 9 pm
  • Phone in airplane mode by 9pm
