The Pitta dosha consists of both fire and water elements. It governs both digestion and transformation and people who have more Pitta predominance often have healthy appetites for food but also for life. 


Physical
  • Fair but ruddy complexion
  • Prone to sunburns
  • Medium build and frame
  • Strong, solid digestion
  • Sharp penetrating eyes
  • Good digestion

Character:
  • Clear and decisive thinker and speaker
  • Natural leader
  • Bright and alert
  • Hard working
  • Intense

Pitta imbalances may manifest as:
  • Being overly critical 
  • Intolerance of disliked people and situations 
  • Unpredictable mood swings
  • Acne, redness 
  • Chronic inflammation 
  • Combative & likes to debate
  • Often thirsty
  • Overheats easily
  • Acid reflux
  • A general feeling of frustration
  • Judgmental and resentful. 
  • Tries to micromanage and control others and situations

Ways to balance Pitta
  • Avoid getting over-heated
  • Favor sweet, bitter and astringent foods
  • Limit salty, pungent and sour flavors
  • Limit spicy foods
  • Maintain a mindfulness practice and practice compassion
  • Keep hydrated
