Turmeric Immunity Tonic

This is a great tonic if you feel a cold coming on or are feeling inflamed. Sometimes I’ll make this if I am jet-lagged or if I didn’t sleep well the night before. I’m pretty loose about following recipes but especially this recipe. Use what you have in your produce drawer. Sometimes I use an orange instead of carrots. Tangerines work well as do cara caras.

The only things that I always make sure to include are ginger and turmeric. The gingerol in the ginger and the curcumin in the turmeric are potent anti-inflammatory agents. I swear that I can almost feel them scouring my body for invaders.

Keep in mind that this juice is strong. You can take it as a shot or dilute it in warm or room temperature water.

INGREDIENTS

  • 2-3 medium carrots

  • 1” knob fresh turmeric

  • 1” knob fresh ginger

DIRECTIONS

  1. Juice everything and consume it within 24 hours.

NOTE

  • To peel or not to peel the ginger and turmeric? Generally I don’t peel until the rhizomes have been hanging out in my crisper for a long time and I can see the beginnings of mold.
